WEEK PROGRESS
5th November

WEEK 1
This is normally counted from the first day of your last period.

12th November WEEK 2
The womb is getting itself ready to welcome the embryo.

19th November WEEK 3
Conception or fertilisation takes place

26th November WEEK 4
The embryo is now firmly implanted in the walls of the uterus.

3rd December WEEK 5
The embryo now develops a head as well as a tail end
Our Pregnancy confirmed
10th December WEEK 6
Looks like our baby has a neck, a brain and small bump that looks like the beginning of a head.

17th December WEEK 7
The embryo is now a full-fledged foetus, which means ‘young one’. Its brain and spinal cord is almost close to completion.

24th December WEEK 8
Most of the internal organs like the heart, brain, liver, lungs, kidneys and guts have developed in their basic forms.

31st December WEEK 9
Our baby is actually beginning to look like a baby now
We told our Parents the good news.
7th January WEEK 10
This week sees the completion of the inner part of our baby’s ear as the external parts are beginning to make their appearance felt.

14th January WEEK 11
Our baby’s internal organs will have completely developed and most of them will begin to function.

21st January WEEK 12
This week our baby will pass urine for the very first time.

28th January WEEK 13
This week sees the neck fully formed and well able to support the head movements. The face has also taken complete shape
We heard the baby's heart-beat
4th February WEEK 14
The growth of our baby speeds up considerably as the internal organs mature and he/she increases in size.

11th February WEEK 15
Let the music play and be careful what we say as our baby could be listening.

18th February WEEK 16
This week it looks like our baby’s body is finally trying to catch up with the head, though the head still looks much larger

25th February WEEK 17
You should be able to identify movement this week, if you haven’t already as all his/her joints are completely ready and he/she is certainly in action.

4th March WEEK 18
This week you can be sure it is not just our hyperactive imagination when our baby kicks or throws a few punches as he/she begins to test his/her reflexes.

11th March WEEK 19
This week our baby probably measures nine inches or 22.5cm.

18th March WEEK 20
Our baby is exactly half the size that we can expect at birth.
Ultra-sound Scan

We saw our baby!

25th March WEEK 21
The legs will have finally grown in proportion to the body.

1st April WEEK 22
Looks like our baby’s movements are not co-ordinated with our own.

8th April WEEK 23
This is an exciting week for the father as he could attempt hearing his baby’s heartbeat by putting his ear to your abdomen.

15th April WEEK 24
By this week our baby is fairly well developed in terms of most of his/her vital organs

22nd April WEEK 25
This week he/she will grow fatter and heavier rather than taller.

29th April WEEK 26
This is the week when the ‘bronchi’ develops.

6th May WEEK 27
This week our baby opens his/her eyes for the very first time.

13th May WEEK 28
This is the first week of our final trimester and the foetus is finally ‘visible’.

20th May WEEK 29
You can now identify his/her knee from his/her feet or his/her bottom from his head

27th May WEEK 30
Right now, our baby is probably curled up with his/her knees bent, arms and legs crossed as his/her chin gently touches his/her chest.

3rd June WEEK 31
Over the next seven days the lungs will develop fast in preparation for delivery which is not too far away

10th June WEEK 32
Finally our baby’s head is in correct proportion to his/her body and he/she looks very much like he/she would at birth.

17th June WEEK 33
This week our baby will mostly have settled in the head downward position getting ready to make his or her appearance in the world.

24th June WEEK 34
Your baby has learnt to blink and as he/she can differentiate between light and dark.

1st July WEEK 35
Our baby is growing plumper by the week as more fat is being deposited all over his/her body.

8th July WEEK 36
By now most of our baby’s organs have matured and he/she has a 90% chance of survival were he to be born this week.

15th July WEEK 37
Keep your bags packed as he or she could appear anytime between now and week 42.

22nd July WEEK 38
We might notice our baby has more hiccups this week. This is because he/she may be trying to use his/her lungs as he/she practices breathing.

29th July WEEK 39
By this week, our baby’s intestine is filled with ‘meconium’, which is made up of the excretions from the alimentary glands.

5th August WEEK 40
Our baby’s skin will be extremely soft and smooth, as most of the lanugo will have disappeared.
We are ready for you little one!
13th August WEEK 41

Expectant parents will be very anxious by now & getting fed up with the phone ringing!

As if we would forget to let anyone know!
